Semiomantics Evolution Combo

Once we had tweaked our Evolution Flash design to storm Google, we had to start thinking about pairing it with a blog design living up to Evolution visitors. Here is the first sneak preview of what will form the EVO Combo together with the flash sites Semiomantics EVO2 or Evolution.

The Evolution Look

The transparent headers and footers give the site a definite Evolution Look. The second element are the eye-catching backgrounds. For the purpose of this sample I have left the home page without any content: a big picture and a top menu can do to let people immediately know what the site is all about. Also the menu allows for quick navigation without distraction.

Semiomantics EVO Home Screen

The background can be adapted to the content of each post:

Last but not least, the menus get an EVO look as well; this time however the display is vertical.

Flying Geese

September 21st, 201010:38 pm @ Zo Nicholas

Flying Geese

After an absolutely stunning September day with wall to wall sunshine, we witnessed another awesome spectacle at the close of day just as the sun was about to go down, just like the previous day, a massive wave of Flying Geese coming straight at us. Hundreds of geese honking, flapping their wings, the noise is deafening! I never thought we would see this spectacle again, but here they were getting closer by the minute.

Flying Geese Images

Unfortunately, being unprepared for this amazing display of flying geese the shots taken are not the best ever, however they do depict well what we witnessed. Just imagine this wave growing ever larger, coming towards you and the sound of hundreds of honking horns blasting!
Flying Geese

Click on the image for an enlarged view and see the wave of flying geese coming in from over the sea.  This was only just the first wave.

Wave of Flying Geese

As the light became darker we had wave after wave of  honking geese flying towards us, then circling and settling down somewhere in the distance in a field.  Maybe they will come again  tomorrow.

I will be adding geese photos to our new Photo Media Site as soon as I am able.

Ycademy Online Publishing Seminar

September 21st, 20104:25 pm @ Yorgo Nestoridis

Copyright © 2010 Yorgo Nestoridis. Visit the original article at http://yorgonestoridis.com/yorgo-nestoridis/ycademy-online-publishing-seminar/.

How to Create your Publishing Network

The Ycademy September Seminar will focus on building a personal publishing network and then to link it with other networks. The goal is to increase visibility and impact on Google and other Search Engines as well as on aggregators.

The Basic Network Structure

According to the YORGOO Publishing Model we are looking first at a three level in-house structure; thereafter we link with external networks.

The external Publishing Structure

Here we consider namely

  • Aggregators
  • Social Networks
  • Media Networks
  • Friendly Websites
  • and more

This topic will be explained and implemented during the seminar.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO will be a special issue at the Seminar. All participants will use Semiomantics Scripts tuned for aggressive configuration. We will present step by step a recommended configuration for each site on each level.

The Author Blog

In most cases, the Author Blog is a Semiomantics XO site with quite a diversified and complex category and tag structure. Authors however tend to specialize on a few main topics (categories) which would constitute the recommended primary categories of the respective newspaper sites.

The Newspaper Site

In fact each newspaper owner provides a particular mix of topics designed to attract the targeted readership. In the ideal case the mix is function of the main interest of the editor and likely to correspond to the main categories in his author blog.In addition each Newspaper editor may add external authors and their content in function of the requirements of the project. Important: only publish content with the authorization of the external authors and respect copyright notices; all participants agree to allow all the other participants to syndicate content from their networks.

Newspaper sites are built on Semiomantics NewsCast or its successor script. The sites are provided and boosted by YORGOO Press.

The Niche Sites

These sites are traditionally YORGOO Blasters or Boosters. License holders may also use XO or NewsCast scripts for the purpose whereas it is important to take into account the particular editing requirements of these two scripts.

Special Configuration of Blaster or Booster type sites will be demonstrated at the Seminar.

Pre-requisites

It is of paramount importance that participants prepare their publishing structure before the seminar. This week’s daily calls will help to prepare these structures. Also, we will publish a sample based on my own model and publish it for reference before the seminar.

A Gaggle or a Wedge

September 20th, 201010:15 pm @ Zo Nicholas

Flying Geese

When you are busy it’s the unusual sounds that disturb and attract your attention especially if the noise is getting louder and louder. Looking out of the window I discovered where the noise was coming from, a gaggle of geese flying straight at us, or is it a wedge of geese? No time  to discuss. Grab a camera, shoot!  The light for taking some reasonable shots was just about right as it was evening with a few clouds in the sky and the sun was soon to go down.

Geese Flying in Formation Images

Geese Flying in Formation

The geese were flying in formation coming in of the sea, wave after wave of them with a few straglers trailing behind. This was a really amazing opportunity to shoot a few images and a few videos, not always so easy when caught unaware with absolutely no time to prepare. Here is one of the pictures that was taken. There will come a few more images hopefully when I have time to go through all the shots.

Best Restaurants Cape Town

September 20th, 20109:11 am @ Bianca Gubalke

Best Restaurants Cape Town

When it comes to choosing amongst the Best Restaurants in Cape Town, South Africa, Thorfynn’s Restaurant at Monkey Valley Resort – under relatively new management of Darren Byrne – comes to mind.

Darren – who you see on the photo taken by David Turnley above – has a huge passion for the hospitality industry and vast experience from having brought “The Brassbell” in Kalk Bay to fame and making it a favourite dining out destination as well as serving the best fish ‘n chips almost on the wave crests of the Atlantic Ocean.

I loved to go there… but now with Thorfynn’s Restaurant just down and up the road and with a mouth-watering and well-priced menu I just eat out at home… or almost :)

Best Restaurants Cape Town

When choosing amongst the Best Restaurants in Cape Town, fine and fresh food well prepared is certainly a prime objective, however, it’s also about the environment, the views, the ambiente and the warmth of the people.

Thorfynn’s Restaurant at Monkey Valley Resort has always been an insider tip for those who love getting out of the hectic city buzz and enjoying  that unique “Out of Africa” feeling that just seems to be inherent to Monkey Valley Beach Nature Resort in general… and to this fine Noordhoek Cape Town Restaurant in particular.

Darren Byrne and his Team go the extra mile to make you feel literally on top of the world!

Monkey Valley Resort Online – prepare to be astonished!

Please set your sails for an exciting journey by simply clicking on the topics of interest to you in the top navigation bar of the brand-new Monkey Valley Resort website on Semiomantics Evolution – a surfing experience with a REAL difference!

Sunday the day of rest

September 19th, 20107:38 pm @ Zo Nicholas

Sunday the day of rest

I remember Sundays when it was a day of rest, a day of peace, childhood fun and family get-togethers. These days everyone seems to be caught up in work, shopping, travel and catching up on yesterday. The 21st century appears to have acclerated society into perpetual motion, everyone chasing their tail, and yes! I am here on a Sunday…

Sunday

Sunday

Sunday for some is still a day of peace and rest. As the proverb says….“A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content.”  The lucky few.

Ycademy Seminar for YORGOOpress

September 16th, 20102:46 pm @ Zo Nicholas

Ycademy Seminar for YORGOOpress

As per usual Ycademy is holding it’s monthly seminar, this month focused on upgrading the publishing network, namely YORGOOpress. For all participants there will be a brand new theme for their Press websites.

Ycademy Seminar for Working from Home News

Working From Home News

Working From Home News has been up and running for well over a year now, since the March Seminar in 2009, every day hitting the desired target on the Google search  engine. Since it’s installation we have had numerous updates on both WordPress and the plugins that we use. Over time you begin to notice how a single update on a single plugin can screw up a whole blog, absolutely no fun when then you have to spend time uravelling the disaster. This kind of mess always leaves some traces behind. Things just don’t work as they used to.

Time to re-think and time to change. ““There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction” said Winston Churchill.

It’s a time to reassess, to discard what’s not working and re-energise what produces results!

For more information about the forthcoming seminar click HERE.

YORGOO Press next Generation

With the upgrade to WordPress 3.0.1 YORGOO Press needs a lift and we will take the opportunity to develop a new Semiomantics Press script.

Also, the new YORGOO Press sites will be only available to Ycademy September Seminar Participants for whom we will continue to host these exclusive high performance sites.

IMPORTANT

As from Sunday, September 19, 2010 we will take down all YORGOO Press sites. If you would like to preserve pieces and bits, you may back-up your existing site to your computer. We will not preserve your existing data bases and you will not be able to reload your old DB to the new site.

YORGOO Press will be reconstructed from scratch with new and different server features than in the past. The new sites will be built individually using the latest Semiomantics technology, similar to the one used on our most recent sites but the Newspaper layout will be preserved.

Seminar Tickets

The seminar will take place on September 25/26, 2010

Seminar Tickets are available (limited number as we will build maximum 12 YORGOO Press websites) HERE.

The agenda will be released shortly.

Vegetable Garden Design

September 15th, 20106:54 pm @ Yorgo Nestoridis

Vegetable Garden Design gets Support

Wow, we are doing great on Google! Our new Vegetable Garden Design site has reached Google Top 10 on quite a few of our keywords within 24 hours and we are quite proud about it.

You may ask how we did this? well, in fact it’s an easy issue:

Semiomantics for Vegetable Garden Design

Our WordPress based site is tuned by Semiomantics, and this is miles away from ordinary WordPress. The performance of Semiomantics tuned scripts is a proven issue. As we need fast performance and high visibility on our high traffic keyword, only the best scripts are good enough.

YORGOO Publishing Support

Established 3 years ago, special support for active YORGOO Pros and Ycademy Pros is available. Any new site lacks authority at the beginning. YORGOO Publishing can help any site to climb up quickly on Google as we have shown on many opportunities in the past. I cannot tell you how they do it, but fact is that by hooking our site up with the YORGOO Publishing network, we get a two step effect:

  1. Our posts shoot immediately up to Google Top 10 due to the YORGOO Publishing Network’s publishing power and position on Google and
  2. Our site gets pulled along and up to top ranking before even having any significant content.

Ad1: here is a screen shot of the performance of our last post:

Vegetable Garden Design Elements on Google

Vegetable Garden Design Elements on Google

As you see, 4 of the YORGOO Publishing Network sites rank on Google Top 10, while our new site sits on rank 20 (not visible here).

Interesting is also that Garden Route Publishing is ranking high: the reason is its very broad spectrum of performance as well as may be the domain name which includes the word “Garden”.

What will happen according to the Semiomantics philosophy is that in the beginning the supportive network will score high and after a while our new site will rank ahead of all the other sites of the network.

Look forward – this is just the beginning as we party for our 24 hours of existence :-) .

Vegetable Garden Design News

Vegetable Garden Design News

Vegetable Garden Design News just keeps overtaking themselves! What an exciting racer this brand-new website is on the Internet; hard to keep up with its ambition to reach Google Top 10 in numbers – see below.

To celebrate the occasion… and as autumn is closing in on the Northern hemisphere – here’s a boletus I found in my garden in April 2010 – our South African autumn! It was delicious… and picked in the wild.

As it’s raining constantly right now there is no way I shoot a picture of any vegetable… in case it sticks its head out on a cold, lousy day anyway! Veggies love warmth and the sun and so do I – but it will be back soon… and then there’s stretching of roots and little heads and leaves popping up everywhere smiling at the world and just too big a temptation to be picked and end up in a salad bowl!

Boletus by Bianca Gubalke Images on Vegetable Garden Design News

Vegetable Garden Design News on Google

Astonishing results for “Vegetable Garden Design News” on Google right after setting up this brand-new site and sending out a small post: in total, our Online Publishing Network holds 7 of 10 positions on Google Top 10!

What’s even more exciting… I just checked HERE ON GOOGLE and see that, meanwhile, this brand-new website – vegetablegardendesigns.com – is on position one ahead of 412,000 fiercely defended search results!

Vegetable Garden Design News on Google

The question is: what comes after the Top?

I guess it will be the next keyword . . . stay tuned!

Vegetable Garden Design

Vegetable Garden design is quite an interesting keyword: lot’s of traffic and a relatively small number of competitors. It’s a perfect target to demonstrate the power of Semiomantics Frameworks and the quality of websites built by us.

Vegetable Garden Design Website

To prepare the Ycademy September Seminar we have chosen the keyword Vegetable “Garden Design” to build step by step a website designed to grab the keyword Vegetable Garden design on Google.

The site focuses on 4 sub-topics:

  1. Vegetable Garden Design News

  2. Vegetable Garden Design Trends

  3. Vegetable Garden design Tips

Vegetable Garden Design on Google

We have registered a new domain yesterday for the purpose of our demonstration; within a few minutes from going public with the Semiomantics Framework we were indexed and listed on Google. One day later we are already present on Google Top 10 with 50% of our main keywords such as Vegetable Garden Design Trends.

Vegetable Garden design Trends on Google

Please note that for the purpose of the demo we support the new site using the YORGOO Publishing model all Ycademy pros have implemented. The result is obvious: established Semiomantics Frameworks with a built authority perform immediately irrespective of their main purpose. The top scorers are YORGOO Publishing network sites which pull the new site immediately to Google Top 10.

The YORGOO Publishing Model

Based on the Ycademy Seminar held in January 2009 we have published a hypothetical Model for efficient Online Publishing under the name of YORGOO Publishing Model. Bianca Gubalke had resumed the model in two video clips available on YouTube.

Since then we have updated the model and a new version will be implemented with participants at the Ycademy September Seminar.

Vegetable Garden Design Performance

As you can see from the above screen-shot: just 24 hours after registering the domain VegetableGardenDesigns.com, the site flirts with Google Top 10 on relevant keywords.

Frankly, I don’t know anyone else than Semiomantics able to achieve such a performance!

Vegetable Garden Design News

Another example of high performance is to be found under the keyword “Vegetable Garden Design News”, whereas we just use the generic search:

Vegetable Garden Design News

If we use the narrow search we just look at a full house score where we occupy all top 10 positions with the YORGOO Publishing network and where our new site ranks on number 3 right after YORGOO:

"Vegetable Garden Design News"

"Vegetable Garden Design News"

Of course there are not many returns here, however, the news category has its hidden secrets as you may know :-).

Vegetable Garden Designs

By the way, if you look up our principal keyword in the plural form and using narrow search for “Vegetable Garden Designs” you will find our 24 hour old site and domain on rank 5 right on Google Top 10:

Vegetable Garden Designs

This one is a clear demonstration of the power of the domain as well as parallel visibility on other keywords.

Look forward to the next step and our performance by tomorrow :-).

How to Grab Vegetable Garden Design

September 15th, 20106:03 pm @ Bianca Gubalke

How to Grab Vegetable Garden Design

What started off a day ago as a lone experiment has turned into a schoolcase on “How to grab Vegetable Garden Design” – meaning how to reach Google Top 10 if that was my target, my ambition.

Vegetables by a Pro

How to Grab Vegetable Garden Design

Whether your plan is to target “Vegetable Garden Design” or any other keyword doesn’t matter; what matters is that you know exactly where your target audience is and what it types into Google to find what you have to offer. If say 1000 people search “Vegetable Garden Design” on Google every day and most people look at page 1, which contains 10 websites on the left (wait until Semiomantics sniffs this one out!) and some Google Ads on the right, you know where your website has to be – come hell or high water!

Once you’ve decided that you don’t want to pay non-stop for Google Ads but to get to the top on the left side, then your next step is to invest in a smart domain name.

If you look at the screenshot below that shows the evolution of my little articles within just a few hours, then see that my website – which has absolutely nothing to do with vegetables etc – has one big minus if compared with the others: they all have their keywords somehow within their domain name! They are smart! It does help… so if hitting the top in the veggie gardening biz was my main ambition, guess what I would do first thing?

No magic here; just common sense.

Small Vegetable Garden Design on Google

Let’s look at results of  “Small Vegetable Garden Design” on Google. A stunning position 8 on Google Top 10 of 614,000 Search returns!

Small Vegetable Garden Design on Google

Semiomantics XO

What is truly astonishing is the fact that my Author Blog – on Semiomantics XO – did it all alone, meaning without the support of our major Publishing Network as that one was down.

As my initial experiment has now been taken up to demonstrate yet another school case of the power of Semiomantics, keep an eye on developments and learn from what you can deduct.

Stay tuned… we just show by doing… there’s no hype, no exaggeration – just a step-by-step process with a sophisticated script and smart Editing and Online Publishing.

Photo Media Stock

September 15th, 20101:10 pm @ Zo Nicholas

Photo Media Stock

Yesterday was such a miserable grey, windy, rainy day but a perfect day to work indoors preparing images for the new stock photo site, Photo Media Stock. Just because you have shot a picture with your digital camera and it looks great on the camera screen it doesn’t mean its ready to be uploaded to a Stock site. There is always some editing to do beforehand.

Photo Editing for Photo Media Stock

On most digital cameras there are different setting  for different phoptographic situations and its well worth paying attention to the guidelines as outlined in a manual until you get well accustomed to the camera settings. What you see on the camera screen is not neccessarily what you will see if you then edit your photo with a photo editor.

Photo Editing with Lightroom 3

My Nikon Coolpix P90 stores images in the .JPG format which means that every time the image is saved the is a loss of picture data. When you save an image it is compressed, the jpg compression loses some some image data in order to create a smaller image file.  To avoid ‘loss’ of image quality its is better to upload images to a photo editor such as Lightroom 3 and do the neccessary editing. Once the editing is done to avoid loss of quality a good way to store the image is in the TIFF lossless image format as there is no compression with this format and the same image  can be used again for further editing.  To save an image for use on the web it is best saved in the .jpg format which is accepted most everywhere, just like the one here.

Photo Editing with Lightroom 3

With a good photo editor such as Lightroom you can correct your photos; whether its an underexposed image, or you need to correct the colour balance, cover up small blemishes or even sharpen blurry edges. These are only just some of the tools that are available to help edit photos in  Lightroom 3. There are of course the Lightroom presets which can be employed to enhance a photo as opposed to using the settings to develop your own photo preset. Depending on the photo I use either or, or develop a user preset.

Vegetable Garden Design

Vegetable Garden Designers look at the elements we have listed in our previous post. This post will focus on some of these elements.

Vegetable Garden Design Elements

When designing a vegetable garden, some basic principles need to be observed as from the beginning. They concern the basic layout of the garden, such as the layout of the hard landscape, such as path, walls, may be a greenhouse, water features and so on.

Further the attention is focused on the layout of the plantation and the plants themselves. vegetable Garden Design takes into account the season-to-season appearance, the growth habit, lifespan and the horticultural needs of the plants.

Designers include into their concepts elements of maintenance, time and money requirements which may impact in the quality, speces, speed of growth and more.

The most important consideration in vegetable Garden design is its purpose and how and when it will be used, followed by stylistic considerations.

All the above is function of the location of the vegetable garden. The influence of the climate, soil and seasonal evolution on the life and growth cycle of the veggies is of paramount importance for the success of the project.

Finally, and I said it before, there is always a financial component to each project. Budget limitations can be met by reducing cost on the hard landscape and by simplifying the design. The choice of plants and their needs of maintenance may have a positive impact as well.

When talking finance we consider as well the amount of time needed to spend on cultivating and maintaining the vegetable garden.

A well designed garden saves time and provides pleasure all along the year.
